Chethana Integrated Development Society the official social and charitable organization of the Mavelikara Diocese was founded by His Grace Dr. Joshua Mar Ignathios, Bishop of Mavalikkara in 2007. Chethana facilitates Self-help organizations, organizing and empowering the poor, women, widows, handicapped, aged, children and also the unorganized and marginalized sections of the society irrespective of caste, creed and religion. Chethana has six regions such as Mavelikara, Kattanam, Chengannur, Kadampanad, Puthoor and Kollam.
